PEPPPA welcomes CBBA-Europe’s position papers on the revisions of the IORP II Directive and the PEPP Regulation. The papers make a timely contribution to the debate on how Europe can strengthen supplementary pension provision and improve retirement outcomes.

Europe’s retirement-savings gap requires practical measures that expand participation and make long-term saving easier. Automatic enrolment, well-designed default options and proportionate consumer protections can help more people build adequate retirement income.

Cross-border accessibility must be central to the next phase of reform. Savers should be able to continue contributing as they move across Europe, while providers need a framework that is efficient to operate at scale.

PEPPPA also supports a stronger connection between pension reform, financial literacy and the Savings and Investments Union. Long-term pension capital can improve individual security while contributing to productive investment in the European economy.

We look forward to working with European institutions and industry partners on a stronger, more usable pan-European pension framework.
